Varrroooom.... Varrroooom.....

 Hi There!

I think I mentioned before that I had finished my many, many scrappy pieced quilt, from my Bonnie K. Hunter book.

Too tired to remember the name of the book or the pattern, right now, but I've since renamed MY quilt, "Tequila Sunrise" 'cause I liked the small, yellow strip against the red border.

*s*

Bonnie DID say that this quilt was HUGE and she was right!!!

*VBG*

And, after spending a couple hours these past 2 days, cleaning up and sorting my leftover scraps, I decided to pull out a "newly acquired" UFO (UnFinished Object).

My Aunt had painted these blocks.  There are 7 antique car blocks and I plan on framing them with black or red, and adding some print blocks and, and...

Well, honestly, I'm not sure yet but I AM sure that I'll figure something out...

And here's another close-up of her painted cars.

I'll keep you posted on how this turns out.

LG (as per Elaine)

Hi There!

Remember my 9 Patch scrappy quilt?  The pattern, "Rick Rack Nines" came from Bonnie Hunter's book called "Adventures in Leaders and Enders" ?

Well, the top is finally finished and I pieced the back, as well.... a-la-Bonnie-Hunter!   I added 3 or 4 orphan 9 Patch blocks and pieced reds and yellows and beiges.... all together!

Gilbert made the label, yesterday evening and it was pieced onto the back, as well!

Having put that quilt aside, it is now patiently waiting for it's turn with Bertha, our longarm machine and with Gilbert.

After "Tequla Sunrise" was (temporarily) put away,
I dug out these blocks.

My Aunt asked that I put these blocks together and have it quilted.  She wants to give this quilt to her niece, this summer.

As you can see, I made some progress, by late afternoon.

My Aunt painted these roses with fabric paint, called "Cameo".
She used to be a "Cameo" representative.

As you can tell, I've been a busy and happy camper!

Got this whole week off -

Holy Cow - This is Like Labour Pains!!!

 Hi There!

I was lucky, today!

I decided to take the afternoon off and managed to get quite a bit of sewing done!

I remember the last time that I did a quilt "on-point", I think I pulled out every wicked word out of the dictionary and more!  I also remember swearing that I would NOT do another one....
 EVER AGAIN!!!!

It was boring.... which, could also be described as "painful".... and it took FOREVER to finish the quilt top.

Sound like a pregnancy to you?

And, like most pregnancies, with time,
you forget the pain and say,
"Hmmmm.... maybe I'll have another one."

LOL

Here I am, working on this 9 patch quilt from Bonnie Hunter's book and while making the blocks themselves was time consuming -it was still fun.  Sewing the strips to finish the quilt top - boring and painful!!!

I've almost got half this king sized quilt top,
pieced together.

There's lots and lots of scrappy little (cut)
2 inch square blocks.

And, this is only HALF of the quilt top.

Hoping to put the other half together, tomorrow.

You have permission to
bonk me over the head
if I ever try another "on point" quilt, again!

LOL

Have a Fabulous Friday!!!

Brain Worms and More!

Hi There!

No, I haven't fallen off the planet and YES, I've been (keeping) busy and YES, it HAS been keeping me out of trouble.

Any other questions?

LOL

I have been busy working on my scrappy 9 patch blocks from Bonnie K. Hunter's book, which, BTW, just yesterday morning I realized that I had taken a picture of Bonnie's other book, instead of the one that I was working on!

I'll try and take a quick "Blog-on-the-Run"
picture of her book, later today.

Friday afternoon, I had a quilty friend
pick up her quilt and drop off a bag of scraps,
for me!!!

It felt like Christmas morning!!!

And, at one point, I told Gilbert, I need to take a picture of her bag of scrappies to post it on my blog and then.... I completely forgot and got lost into the sorting out and cutting strips and, and, and.... HONESTLY, when the table was all cleared off, I stood up, stretched and thought, "DARN! I was going to take a picture of her bag!!!"

LOL

Late yesterday afternoon, I was able to continue re-piecing my scrappy nine patch blocks and when I stopped, I was missing (only) 10 more blocks!

Guess what I'll be doing this morning?!??

Remember, this pattern requires 290 scrappy 9 patch blocks!

*grin*

And as the famous Jean Luc Picard would say....

And THAT'S just ONE one of the reasons
why I LOVE Star Trek so much!

LOL

Brain worm of the day?

Red Solo Cups

Heard this song TWICE on the radio and this morning, I woke up with it in my head. It's a silly, but catchy tune!

So, I had to Google it since I wanted to know, for sure, what a "red Solo cup" actually was...

Was surprised at who sang this song but then, once I found out, I said to myself, "Yep, I shoulda guessed that it would be a Toby Keith song!"

LOL

Gilbert and I did a couple yard sales, yesterday. First ones of the season.

For 5 bucks, I picked up an old wooden box, filled with lots of paint and craft items.... mostly acrylic paints, 2 packages of polymer(?) clay, oil pastel crayons and other goodies.

BONUS!!!

Soooo, here's my loosely planned agenda, for the day:

Laundry = Work
Quilting (later) = Play

Hope you have a well a well balanced
Sunday, too!

Scrappy Patchy Quilt

Hi There!

Do any of you remember the TV sitcom "Home Improvement", with Tim the Tool Man Taylor?

Remember how he'd start a weekend home renovation project that would keep growing until it became this MAJOR 3 month project?!??

Well, I've been seriously trying to keep my Sewing Studio tidy. Whenever I finish a project, I pick up and put away remaining big chunks of fabric and those that are considered "scrap", I cut 'em up right away into "strips".

I WAS cutting them into 2-1/2" strips till I realized that the patterns in the 2 books that I have of my (new) idol, Bonnie K. Hunter..... well, she mostly uses 2" blocks.

What was I to do?

Buy more bins?
How was I going to keep the
2-1/2" inch scraps separated
from the 2" scraps?!??

Keep them separated in a zip lock?

Did I really NEED the 2-1/2" strips?

The bindings on my last 6 or 7 quilts all were 2" and I like the results better.

Why was I holding onto the 2-1/2" strips?!??

In case I made a quilt with jelly roll strips?
I hardly think that will ever happen...
(fatal last words - I know.)

Decisions... decisions.

Finally, I said to myself,
"Rosa... Sh!t or get off the pot! Make a decision, now!"

(Sewing Studio all tidied up)

Sooooo, I will be slowing getting rid of the 2-1/2" strips and converting them all to 2".

That being said, I, of course.... had to go over Bonnie's patterns and found one that said to me.... "Hmmmmmm....... I should prep these strips and do some scrappy 9 patch blocks and put 'em aside and only do a bit at a time, whenever I get a chance."

Here's where the Tim the Tool Man Taylor mentality kicked in....

I cut up all my scraps from my last 2 projects and threw away the itsy bitsy pieces. And, I started sewing these strips together to start my 9 patch blocks.

Then, since I didn't have enough variety, I picked into some of my 2-1/2" bins to cut 'em down to 2" size and sew 'em up.

Was that good enough?

Well, of COURSE NOT!!!

LOL

I remembered some old (cotton) shirts that I had saved in my big blue totes, yanked 'em out and started cutting THOSE as well, into 2" strips!!!

The Studio looked like someone had vomited fabric, all over instead of being nice and tidy, like I had FIRST planned on doing!!!

LOL

And remember?

It all started out that I wanted to trim and put away my previous 2 quilts' leftover fabrics before I got back into my Batik Blocks...

I've been working on these 9 Patch Scrappy blocks for the past 2 days, now!

This plastic container was put away at 7 p.m. and I will NOT pull it out until I have 2 more flimsy finished!

Hope you have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Me?

I'm on vacation
(AKA my Stay-Cah-Shun)
and LOVING IT!!!
