Spider, Christmas Log Cabin and T-Shirt Quilts!!!

Hi There!

A quilt's not finished till the label's on the back!

Finished it, this past weekend!

And here's a picture of the back of this quilt.
I wanted something fun and
in-your-face-bright!!!

And, here she is,
on my clothesline, enveloped in fog!

And here's yet ANOTHER quilt
that I finished this weekend!

Hmmm... but it's not quite finished.
My quilty internet friends tell me
that I need to make a label for this one, as well.... even though it's a commissioned quilt.

I'll work on that this week, or this upcoming weekend.

And yet another picture,
of it blowing in the wind.

Seriously, it looks a LOT better in person!

I just LOVE these traditional Christmas colors.... I'm having a hard time accepting lime greens and pinks as Christmas colors.

*scratching her head*

I guess you can call me old fashioned....
*grin*

And now, here's my latest project....

A new customer asked me
to make a "T-Shirt" quilt.

I cut up the t-shirts on Sunday.

Experimented with one of Gilbert's old t-shirts and a "stabilizer" that I had picked up.

Now, I just got to go back to the store and pick up some more of that "stabilizer" and it worked PERFECT on Gilbert's old T-shirt.

And, in the meantime, I'm been mulling over how I'm going to do this.

Stay tuned, folks - there's bound to be more shared pictures down the road!

Another UFO Bites the Dust and Another Progress Report

Hi There!

Finally finished my first Inklingo project.

This cute little table topper was all hand pieced and then I decided to machine quilt it as it was too odd a shape to put on Gilbert's longarm.

I've name it "Frummie's Coffee"
and the label was sewn on this evening.

Here's a picture of the back.

It's coffee bean fabric that I picked up, while in Florida.

And here's a picture of the front of it.

Tomorrow, it will replace my 30's table topper.

Pulled out the Easy Spider Quilt.... remember that one?

Gilbert and I managed to pick out ALL the itsy, bitsy pieces of paper that I had used to make the blocks. At one point, DON'T ASK ME HOW, but while removing the paper from the back, I noticed a 5 or 6 inch gap that wasn't sewn. A HUGE slit!!!

How did THAT happen?!??

Anyhow, I was too discouraged at the time and just threw it in a corner in my sewing room.

Tonight, I pulled it out and sewed the gap. Gilbert will iron it all for me tomorrow and longarm this one!

YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

As for the Strippy SnowBall Blocks, well, I managed to sew a few more "frames" and now have 7 twelve inch snowballs finished. I hope to finish off the last 5 tomorrow evening.

Don't they kinda look like jewels?!??

*grin*

And finally, here's one of the last garden flower hangers that I made. I think I've made 4, in all... but I'm not considering them completely done 'cause I need to add "hangers" on them. Not looking forward to that, but I'll keep you posted when it gets done.

That's about it for show and tell.

Hope you have a Fantastic Friday!

Easy Spider Quilt Progress

Hi There!

Gilbert and I have been painstakingly removing the paper from the back of our Spider Quilt.

I just LOVE paper piecing but have never really done such a big project before.... and there's a LOT of paper to remove!

And it's only a lap size quilt!

Thank GOODNESS Gilbert is helping me!!!

Friday the 13th...

Hi There!

This past Friday, I received two parcels in the mail. Who ever said that Friday the 13th was unlucky?!?? Not for me, anyhow!

*grin*

Cyn's parcel of TWO YARDS of the much-needed blue fabric arrived, along with a freebie pattern, from the quilt shop!

Gilbert and I collect quilt shop business cards. Ya just never know when you need to contact a certain quilt shop, eh?

Well, as Gilbert put our new-to-us business card away, I noticed "The Cotton Cupboard" business card. They're in Bangor, Maine.

This is what they have on the BACK of their quilt card...

Don't you just love it when companies give you useful information, on their business cards?!?!?

Makes you want to hold onto them and not lose them.... instead of just putting their card away in a drawer and forgetting about them.

Intelligent marketing, I would say.

(Hmmmm... maybe WE need to revise our business cards...)

*VBG*

Well, I also got a package from my local wool shop. I belong to their "Wool Club".

Sande sends us, every 2 or 3 months, 4 pieces of hand dyed wool, for $16.95 - shipping included, too!

Unfortunately, the camera doesn't do justice to these incredible colors.

"So, what have you been working on?," you ask.

Well, I FINALLY finished hand piecing my "Rainbow Flowers" from Inklingo. Thursday evening, I brought it downstairs and pressed it and put it up on my design wall. Now, I just need to dig out some batting, iron the backing, baste it and hand quilt it.

Took me a month or two.... debating on whether I was going to machine quilt it, hand quilt it or just ask Gilbert and Bertha to do their magic.

It's only about 20 inches (squarish) and I figure that once I hunker down and start working on it seriously, that it won't take too, too long. *s*

Friday evening, Gilbert and I decided to do our errands there and then, instead of waiting till Saturday morning. I personally, was all gung-ho on this since I figured I'd be able to play in my quilt studio early Saturday morning.

Would you believe that after I dilly-dallied and played around on the computer Saturday morning, it was then lunch time?!??!

By the time that I FINALLY went into my studio, it was around 1 p.m.!

So much for starting early, eh?
*grin*

As you can tell from the picture, I've been working steadily on my "Spider Blocks"....

Once again, Cyn, I can't thank you enough!
*VBG*

Today, I was invited to my cousin's daughter's baby shower.

I decided to try and make something easy, yet fancy smancy....

Cucumbers, cut into quarters and you remove a bit of the seeds.

A little glop of Philly dilly dip.

A shrimp.

And some fresh sprigs of dill, for deco.

(modified from THIS recipe)

I think some ladies were "WOW'd" by the presentation and taste.

*grin*

Have a great week!

Errands and Such

Hi There!

Gilbert and I head out,
yesterday morning, to do our
"Saturday Morning Errands".

First, we went to bring our empty bottles, to get recycled.

Do you guys do that, or just leave them by the side of the road, for your municipality workers to pick them up?

Here, they're called "Redemption" Centres.

Don't know why, but being a Catholic girl, I've always found the name "Redemption" a bit odd, for a recycling centre... LOL

You wait for your turn and when you're next, you bring your bottles to the table and the workers sort them out. Then, they hand you a slip of paper, which you take to their little office and BINGO! They give you some money. Most times, it's under 5 bucks for us. This time, we made off with 5 bucks and some change!

*grin*

From the Redemption Centre, we went to Bertha's bank.

Right across from this spot, is our
"Moosehead Country Store".

A lovely little boutique, that sells Moosehead stuff.
(NOTE: Moosehead is our local brewery.)

Since we have one new quilt finished for our bed (Notre Première Quilt) and a few more on the go, we decided to donate our well used but still good quilts.

We called up the Salvation Army, in my city.... No, not where they sell stuff but where they have their shelter. Anyhow, they were VERY HAPPY to receive our two quilts.

If ever you have some old quilts that still have some life in them, please consider donating them to....

your local Salvation Army,
or to your local Animal Shelter.

I've been told that they, too, accept quilts and blankets.

From the Salvation Army, we went off to the Quilt Show (more pictures to follow), grabbed a bite to eat - it was 12 noon - and then, went to our local quilt shop to pick up a bottle of "505", spray adhesive for Gilbert and Bertha.

Came home and Gilbert worked on the
final touches of our VERY FIRST....

TAAA.... DAAAA.....

PANTOGRAM!!!!

I designed the basics of it and Gilbert finished it off.

We're calling it "Bruce the Moose".

And, of course, Gilbert had to try it out on a scrap piece of fabric!

*grin*

While he worked on "Bruce", I worked on my "Spider Quilt".

Here's a picture of my design wall, from last weekend.

I believe it's when I realized that I was missing a whole row - 6 complete blocks - of the blue fabric!

And since my friend Cyn has located and mailed out, yesterday, some more blue fabric, I decided to pick up where I had left off.

*grin*

Thanks a bunch, Cyn!!!!

Today's agenda?

Laundry.
Dishes
Help Gilbert "build" some lasagnas, to freeze.

And quilt - hopefully.

Have a Super Sunday!!!!

Notre Première Quilt

Hi There!

I FINALLY finished binding this baby!

And Gilbert and I came up with a name for it, as well.

It's our first, very own, personal quilt
for OUR bed.

We've called it,
"Notre Première Quilt"
(meaning Our First Quilt)

And here's the label.

As you can see,
I hadn't finished sewing it on
the back of our quilt.

It's now on our bed and we should be sleeping under it, this evening.

One UFO down.... several more to go.

Oh....

BTW, my friend Cyn has helped me with my "Easy Spider Quilt"...

She's sending me some of that blue fabric that I was missing.

Thanks to all of you that wrote!

Heading off to our local quilt show, this weekend.

I'll probably be snapping pictures and blogging about it, later...

Looking for #313-41

Hi There!

Here's our outdoor sign, for the month of May:

Remember that "Spider Web" quilt,
that I was working on?
Well, I'm missing about 1/2 a yard of the blue,
to finish it off.

Looking for....

313 - Crackle-texture - Main

By Northcott Studio

(it's actually #313-41)

If any of you have this fabric and could spare 1/2 a yard, perhaps we could barter?

Barter - see Wikipedia definition.

*trying to flash my most winning smile*

Thanking you, in advance...

What Have I Been Up To?!??

Hi There!

What have I been up to?

Well, let's see....

Saturday morning, Gilbert and I did our Saturday errands. Once we got back home, I went to work on my spider blocks.

And all day Sunday, I worked on these blocks.

I can now say that I have 3 rows finished and pieced together.

I've got 3 more rows to do, before we remove the paper, on the back and Gilbert starts quilting this lap/wall quilt.

Saturday evening, Gilbert and I watched a movie and I put a base case of ivory, on my Dear Jane wooden blocks.
(more to come, later)

I think I already mentioned, but we have a few stray cats, hanging around outside. Gilbert and I made the mistake of starting to feed them and now, our stray population seems to have grown, unfortunately.

Most of these cats DO look like strays, but recently we've had THIS one come to our back door.

Riel, a blogging friend, came by yesterday evening and exclaimed, "Oh, that's a gorgeous Himalayan cat!"

HUH?

Never heard of such a cat...

This evening, since I had the wind knocked out of my sails and I didn't want to work on my Spider Quilt, I decided to work on a (kinda) new project.

I had picked up this quilt kit 5 or 6 years ago.

10 bucks for a queen sized quilt top.

Its made with non-shop quality fabric but it was a good idea and good price, at the time.

Not sure what I'll do with it.

But, in one evening, I managed to sew 7 rows!

Half way there and I didn't even break out in a sweat!

LOL

Hope you're having a Magnificent Monday!

Arachnology - The Study of Spiders

Hi There!

Gilbert and I went to visit my parents, today.

We left around 10 a.m. and got back home around 3 p.m.

Once home, Gilbert started tidying up Bertha's room and then "fooled around" with the (new) Bertha.

I'm not sure, but I think he's fallen in love with her.... all over again!

LOL

Anyhow, while he was doing "his" thing, I decided to continue work on my "Spider" blocks...

Yes, there IS one block missing but I figured at 8h30 p.m., it was time to call it a day.

I absolutely LOVE the look of these blocks but you know what? It might not appear that way, but they sure do take a LOT of work to put one together!

But, I've always loved scrapped quilts and this one is no different.

*grin*

Have a great week!!!

Itsy Bitsy Spider...

Hi There!

I had today off and without boring you with the details, I was lucky enough to be able to spend the best part of my day, in my sewing room!

Soooo, I've been chomping at the bit, wanting to start this "part-time" quilt. I say "part-time" 'cause I wasn't supposed to concentrate too much on it, but DARN IT ALL - I DO love scrappy string-like quilts and PAPER PIECING?!?!?

Paper piecing's my all time favorite!

LOL

My friend Cyn, sent me the link to this one...

(Easy) Spider Web

It doesn't look like much... when you complete 1/2 the block.

But put FOUR of them together and you get something REALLY neat!

Here's one that's pieced together.

Amazingly enough, once these blocks are pieced together, we'll be able to see TWO shapes -

A spider web and a star.

Since my spider web will be done in reds, oranges and yellows, I'm calling it them my "suns", instead and the blue star represents the sky, of course.

I'll be sharing pics of this quilt, as I progress.

Hope you're having a fun-filled Friday!
