One Hamilton and Four Washingtons

Hi There!

Yesterday, Gilbert hung up our outdoor Valentine's sign.

For blog privacy purposes, he blacked out our eyes.

LOL

This evening, I sent this picture to Frummie....

And this one, as well....

I wanted to know if she thought it would be okay to bring these, with me, on the plane to Florida. She said there shouldn't be a problem.

Anyone else try to bring these on a plane, before? Did you have any problems?

In case you don't know what they are, they're used for cutting thread or wool.

This is my "craft bag" that I might take along with me. This evening, I started packing quilty projects.

I packed this cute little star kit, that I had won through Prairie Moon Quilt Blog contest.

And remember those hexagon stars that I was hand piecing? I haven't given up on them. In fact, I plan on concentrating most of my time on these....
amongst the laughter and friendship, of course!

*VBG*

Now, I might find other projects to bring along but they'll probably stay behind. I'm trying not to overload myself with projects.

And, believe it or not, we're now at Day 14....

One Hamilton and Four Washingtons, eh?

*grin*

Hope you're having a Mag-NIFF-AH-CENT Monday!!!

The Process Pledge!!!

Hi There!

I've bit the bullet, after reading Pat's Patter Blog, and then clicked on rOssie's blog:

I, Rosa, from Rosa's World, pledge to talk more about my processes, even when I can’t quite put them in the in words or be sure I’m being totally clear. I’m going to put my thinking and my gut feelings out there.

So, here's what I'm (still) working on.

My friend Frummie calls it a "Take-Along" project.

I prefer to call it a "Sew in the Evening" project, while watching TV.

I've posted about it before but will try and take more pc

(13 stars across - first strip, to the left, is complete)

There are a total of 104 stars, in this table topper. The pattern's from "American Patchwork and Quilting", June 2010.

I'm hand piecing everything and to be honest, it's a "first" for me.

Didn't care to do the "stars", but I soon got into it and LOVE making them, now!

Didn't care to start piecing them together, but now I'm hooked!

LOL

And now, I'm kinda scare about those hexagons... As you can see in the second picture, this is where they're supposed to go.

Sooooo..... this is my "Creative Process", with these stars.

I promise to keep you posted on my progress!

P.S. Will add rOssie's button, later this evening.

Yard Sales 'n Stars!!!

Hi There!

Last Saturday, Gilbert found a couple yard sales,
on our way to do errands.

I wasn't too keen on going,
but am desperate to find a "rug hooking cutter",
and at $200 (plus), it's kinda out of my budget range,
at this moment.... and, silly me,
I'm hoping that someone will have one of these cutters,
at their yard sale for 2 bucks!
Yep - wishful thinking, but ya never know, eh?
*grin*

Anyhow, saw this candy jar, on a table for 3 bucks.

I NEVER haggle, but this time I offered 2 bucks
and the (nice) lady agreed.
SOLD!

Gilbert cleaned it up for me
and, once dried, I quickly filled it up
with my red, burgundy and pink threads!

(Don't cha just LOVE "Ordinary Stuff" that can be converted into "Sewing Stuff"?!??)

In the meantime, that day, we stopped at "Bulk Barn" and I spied a smaller candy jar! I figured that I'd use the smaller one in my home office... for when I'm hand piecing or appliquing, or whatever. And the 2nd one - oh YES, I got a 2nd one - could be used to put my thimbles in it!

*grin*

What's on my design wall, these days, you ask?

Well, as you can see, I've been busy making more "stars"!

WARNING: These CAN and WILL BE addictive!

Well, I started piecing them together, as per the magazine's instructions.

I nearly finished 1 complete row.
There's another blue diamond and yet another star required, at the end of this row (right side).

And here's a close up of these stars.
See the tumbling blocks?!?
Cool, eh?!??!?

This pattern's from "American Patchwork and Quilting", June 2010 issue.

It's starts on page 88 and it's called "Honeycomb Stars", designed by Cindy Blackberg, but I'm told that the dark blue fabric is from the Jo Morton line and my friend Elaine sent me the EXACT SAME blue fabric -
how awesome is that, eh?!?!??!?

Also, we're a small group of buddettes that swapped
(Civil War fabrics) diamonds, printed on Inklingo....

That's how I managed to get so many
DIFFERENT colored CW diamonds!

Well, I'm off to bed soon.

Have a great Tuesday!!!

Karma or Kismet? You Decide.

Hi There!

I TOLD you that it had been awhile since I had blogged and that I had TONS of things to share with you.... right? I didn't mention that?!? Well, I DO have loads of things (and pictures) to share.

*grin*

****************************

Karma: In Buddhist teaching, the law of karma, says only this: `for every event that occurs, there will follow another event whose existence was caused by the first, and this second event will be pleasant or unpleasant according as its cause was skillful or unskillful.'

Kismet (as per Wikipedia): Fate or Destiny in Turkish and Urdu, a predetermined course of events.

****************************

My friend, Frummie, wrote to us (our little group of buddettes) and told us that she had printed out a whole bunch of "diamonds", with her Inklingo system, for us to make the mini quilt that was in the latest issue of "American Patchwork and Quilting" - June 2010. She was getting ready to mail these out to us so that we could pick up the magazine and make this GORGEOUS quilt.

Elaine, one of our friends wrote back and told us that, coincidentally, she had purchased this magazine.... LOVED IT and decided to pick up 4 more magazines and was in the process of mailing them out to us!!!

GMTA (Great Minds Think Alike) !!!!

Do you see the 3 yellow tabs, at the top of the magazine?
There are 2 other patterns that I absolutely AH-DOOR!!!
(More later, on these patterns).

Here are pictures of the diamond quilt (stars)
that Frummie wanted us to make.

Elaine, in another recent parcel, included the most comical card!!!

In case you can't read it, it says,
"A really good friend makes you snort when you laugh,
and will still hang out with you when you do it in public."

LOL

Anyhow, here's 5 stars but only 1/2 are sewn...
There's a total of 102 stars to be hand sewn, BTW!
*VBG*

And here's 5 COMPLETED stars...

During a "Skype" session yesterday, with Elaine,
she explained how you iron or press your seams,
all in ONE direction and then, make the center...
"swirl".

And here's a picture of the back. The center looks like a mini star... sorta.

And here's a closeup of the center back.

Well, I can assure you, after I did what Elaine
told me to do (re: ironing and swirling),
my stars are cute, ah-doorable and
LAY FLAT!

*VBG*

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart,
ladies!!!

I now have yet ANOTHER project,
to drive me nuts!

LOL

Have a great day!
