Silly Me...
Yesterday, Gilbert and I had a few things that needed to be picked up. On the spur of the moment, we decided to stop in at a new store called "San Francisco". It's got a lot of joke, novelty kind of items - stuff that you'd buy, bring home and probably end up putting it in a yard sale a couple years later, for 1/10th the original cost.
Well, I decided to try on a few novelty eye glasses.
Gilbert snapped pictures with his iPhone!
Top left hand corner - they're "Beer Goggles".
LOL
Hope you get a chance to do something silly...
Silly things help us get in touch with our "inner" child.

A Father's Love...
Just recently saw/heard this video on our CCMTV (Canadian Country Music TV), sobbed and sobbed and sobbed and basically fell in LOVE with this song, immediately!!!
*sigh*
Really... listen to it and let the words sink in... *s*
Song by Bucky Covington called "A Father's Love".
Tell me what you think of it. *s*
Oh.... and here's a little story of sorts, that I wrote a while back...
Father's Day

Attitude is Everything
Hi There!
No pictures for today. Thought I'd share an email that I got, a while back.
***********************************
Attitude
There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror,
and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.
So she did and she had a wonderful day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror
and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.
'H-M-M,' she said, 'I think I'll part my hair down the middle today.'
So she did and she had a grand day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed
that she had only one hair on her head.
So she did, and she had a fun, fun day.
The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and
noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head.
'YAY!' she exclaimed. 'I don't have to fix my hair today!'
Attitude is Everything.
****************************
Soooooo, I ask you today, "Is your glass 1/2 empty or 1/2 full?"
I've always tried to imagine that my glass is 1/2 full!
*VBG*
Have a great weekend!

A Chocolate Cupcake on Two Legs...
A couple weeks ago,
I went to visit "SudsMuffin"
in my city and, other than being
friends with the owners,
I have no affiliation with them.
I picked up another one of their excellent soaps, "Fundy Trail', for Gilbert since I thought it had an incredibly sexy, mossy, oceany smell to it. Gilbert has since used it and he loves it! And so do I!
*VBG*
But that's not why I'm blogging today...
I also picked up a container of their
"Foaming Sugar Scrub".
And, of course, I HAD to select "chocolate"!
LOL
When you first open up the container, it LOOKS and SMELLS like a whipped chocolate mousse!!!
Your first reaction is to look around for a piece of cake to frost!
LOL
When I first tried it, I used it straight up on my skin and it didn't really foam up, very much.
The next time, I put 1 to 2 teaspoons of it on my bath scrunchy and OH WOW!!!!
Nice, foamy, CHOCOLATTY, soap!!!!
I came out of the shower with ultra soft skin
and smelling like a Chocolate Cupcake!!!!
And NO, the smell is not too overpowering, either!
Gilbert had to practically stick his nose to my hand
to get a whiff of my chocolate scent...
But "I" knew I had clean, soft, chocolatty smelling skin!
There's grains of sugar in the scrub that you can actually FEEL.
Anyhow, whenever I use their Chocolate "Foaming Sugar Scrub",
I feel like a "Chocolate Cupcake on Two Legs".
Isn't that great, eh?
You smell like one of your favorite foods and it's CALORIE FREE !!!
What a GREAT way to start your day!
Have a Super Sunday!
Rosa
P.S. If you're interested, I believe that you can place an order at "SudsMuffin" and, for a nominal fee, they will gladly ship out their soaps and products.

The World According to Rosa
Remember that movie called,
"The World According to Garp"?
Well, Gilbert and I had another "meeting" this evening, and he was quite upset because 3 or 4 years ago, he used to work for a "delivery" company.... you know? those people that deliver medications to homes, or important documents to law firms or deliver car parts to garages?
Anyhow, he was upset because he couldn't remember where a certain company was... that he had previously delivered AT LEAST 100 items there - his words, not mine.
I said to him...
"Gilbert, Gilbert, Gilbert... don't you know that the human brain is like a computer, but much more complex? You remember things and eventually, your brain gets full. And if you're expected to remember NEW stuff, then some of the old stuff's gotta be deleted! No choice in the (grey) matter!"

Now, there's SOME things that your brain requires.... like when you learned your basic math, at school. Those kinda things - you're not supposed to forget or delete.
But GOODNESS GRACIOUS!
Imagine if you were to REMEMBER each and every little detail, from all your previous jobs, and such?!?!?
Why, your brain would just EXPLODE!!!
LOL
And that, ladies and gentlemen,
is
"The World According to Rosa"

Crafty Ribbons and Beads
Gilbert's come to my rescue, once again.
I had a LOT of ribbons and beads and doo-dahs that were spread out, all over my sewing studio... some hidden in containers that I had even forgotten about.
I explained to Gilbert what I needed. While I was explaining and we were both brainstorming, he came up with this design. As space was limited, we decided to make, what I call my "Spool Holder" vertical, rather than horizontal.
Here's the top part....
Here's the bottom part....
There's a hinge underneath my holder, so I can un-snap the top part and either add or remove my ribbon or bead spools.

"How's My Day, So Far?", you ask.
So you want to know how my day's been, so far, eh?
Well, got up at 6h45 a.m., got dressed and went to work. I work in a fairly big building and once in the office, I share my 8 hours of work, with a co-worker.
Around 11h30 a.m., I come home to eat.
Since we have a couple cats, I always try to watch where I'm stepping, in our back yard... "Gifties" from cats are no fun to step in.
Then, after lunch, I go back out to the car, carefully watching where I put my feet.
Got back to work, safely.... no problem.
The rest of the afternoon was rather uneventful.
I finish work at 4h00 p.m. and I called up Gilbert to remind him that I was heading off to Curves.
During our conversation, I looked down
and TO MY HORROR, saw THIS!!!!
LONG GROAN!!!!!
NOBODY - even myself - NOTICED that I had 2 different shoes on?!?!?!?
Well, of course I still went to Curves and had to share with them my "story". Believe it or not, there was another gal there that she did the same thing... only she had 2 different colored shoes on!
LOL
Hope you're having a better day than me!
I'm heading downstairs for supper and then, out the door....
It's our monthly Quilt Guild meeting!
Later 'gators!

What's New, Part Two
Just thought I'd share with you
what we had hanging outside,
during the month of October.
Gilbert and I made a series
of these cute (IMHO) hanging signs.
This morning, we removed
our pumpkin and replaced it
with THIS sign.
One of our clients came
and picked up her quilt,
this afternoon.
She complimented us
on our poppy sign.
*s*
Since I've FINALLY finished
my Thanksgiving Table Topper,
Gilbert started to quilt it.
(He's trying to get ideas on how it was quilted, in the book)

Cinderella (AKA The "Princess")
As some of you might remember,
I've affectionately nicknamed
one of my nieces as
"The Princess",
or "Princess Sophia".
Yesterday evening,
my sister and her hubby,
went door to door,
trick-or-treating with....
"Cinderella" !!!!

Here you see Princess Sophia,
OH ... SORRY...
I meant ....
"Cinderella",
stepping out of her pumpkin!
*VBG*
Where do witches go shopping?
At the Boooo-tique!
LOL
Hope you had a hauntingly
wonderful Halloween!

How Time Flies....
As some of you are aware, Gilbert got himself an iPhone and he's been having LOADS of fun, playing with it and trying out new apps.
This afternoon, as I was busy in my sewing room, he pops in and says,
"I need to take your picture,
with my iPhone."
Okay, so he takes a picture of me,
which he showed me.

Then, he says,
"Wait a minute. I have another picture to show you."
Well, he downloaded this application, from iTunes. It shows you what you'll look like, MANY years later....
Honestly.... was it worth 99 cents to see me LIKE THIS?!?!??!

Election Night in New Brunswick
Tonight is Elections Night, in New Brunswick.
A couple years ago, my parents had been invited to a yearly supper. Well, the present Premier of New Brunswick, Shawn Graham (sitting beside my Mom) and Dominic LeBlanc (Liberal) member of parliament (behind Mom) happened to start chatting with her.
My Mom talks to EVERYONE!
The proof being that she started chatting with (unknown to her) one of my blogging friends, at our local quilt show!
I think everyone loves my Mom!
*VBG*
Anyhow, this picture in NO WAY implies that they did or will vote for Shawn Graham's party... It was just a comical picture, that we teased her about....

And here's another comical picture of my Mom... 'specially since she NEVER wears lipstick!
I think they were getting ready for Halloween... dunno.

The Queen in 3-D!
Well, you can definitely call me a sporadic blogger.... I go days without blogging and then, "POOF!", I post lots of blogs!
Actually, what happens is that my camera gets loaded down with pictures that I wanted to share with you and then, I do a self-kicking-to-the-butt, along with a stern lecture and designate a specific time, to upload these pics.
For the previous week or so,
CBC had been advertising that
they would be showing a FIRST EVER...
3-D T.V.!!!!
You had to go to Canada Post and pick up your (free) 3-D glasses.
The documentary?
The British Queen and her coronation, along to present day.... to be viewed on the 20th of this month.
Gilbert and I went to our local Canada Post office and picked up a couple pair of these 3-D glasses, in anticipation of seeing something incredible.

In as much as I do understand and appreciate the work and talent that went into filming this documentary, Gilbert and I were BOTH very disappointed...
If it wasn't for the designated people telling you when to put your 3-D glasses on or off, we wouldn't have realized or known what was 3-D or what wasn't. And even WHEN you were supposed to put them on.... honestly? it sure didn't look "3-D" to us.
I'd give this show a 3, out of 10.
(my 25 cents worth)

Weekend's Agenda - 18 June 2010
Decided to share with you my weekend plans.
Didn't find any major activities noted on my.....
(see picture below and try to guess the word, before scrolling downwards)

"I Pod"
Yep, I try and mark down our "activities", on my I-Pod.... and other than a Graduation celebration this afternoon, picking up (possibly) some groceries and doing my bestest at avoiding housework (dishes and laundry and such nonsense)....
looks like I'll have PLENTY of time to play in my Sewing Room!!!!
Hope you all have a GREAT weekend!!!!

Canadian Pride!
Last Saturday, Elaine, my friend from California asked me if Gilbert and I would be watching the final (2010 Winter Olympics) hockey game, between Canada and the USA. And in the same breath, she told me that her and her hubby were quite excited about this game.
Well, once I told her that Gilbert and I NEVER watch sports on TV and weren't planning on watching this game, she encouraged me to (pretend) be there, with them.
Okay, I thought... I'll play along. First thing was to try and convince Gilbert, though.
Conversation Sunday morning, at our kitchen table:
Him: *looked at me, above his glasses, as if I had TOTALLY lost it.*
- add dramatic pause, here.
Me: Seriously, it's not like one of the regular hockey games, where everyone's more interested on how many fights occur and besides, it might be interesting. Who knows, eh? Plus, Elaine and her hubby will be watching it, too.
Him: *no reply - still staring at me, like I had grown alien antennaes on my head*
Well, 4h00 p.m. arrived - that's when the hockey game was starting up and by coincidence, we were BOTH sitting in front of our desk, where our TV is.
I casually mentioned the hockey game and HEY, he turned on the TV, to the game!
*grin*
Anyhow, a few minutes later, I get an email from Elaine, asking,
"Are you here, yet?"
Remember, we're "pretending" to be at the game together, okay?
LOL
I reply that I'm there and am still trying to locate her!
LOL
So, since I'm sitting in my chair, hand quilting, I asked Gilbert to take a couple pictures of me, watching the TV... so that I can send them to Elaine, right?
Two pictures got taken and I put the camera down, in front of me. Almost simultaneously, I receive an email from Elaine with a picture of THEIR television screen!!!!
Can you BAH-LEEVE this?!?!?!?

Here's my 2 pictures:

Well, Canada scored the first goal and then, a SECOND ONE!!!
In between the intermissions, I was calling Elaine!
How fun was that, eh?!??!
Finally, the USA scored a goal and Elaine sent me this picture of her hubby!
(They had pre-decided that she would cheering for Canada and he would be cheering for the USA.)

Gilbert noticed his Moosehead t-shirt and I wrote and told them. Elaine wrote back and said that her hubby wanted us to email him a Moosehead beer.
His wish was my command - We sent him a Moosehead beer!
LOL
Well, Gilbert got (almost) chanting, throughout the whole game, "I wouldn't be surprised if the game goes into OverTime... I wouldn't be surprised if the game goes into OverTime... These games usually go into OverTime... Wait and see - it'll probably go into OverTime..."
Finally, 1 minute left into the game and the score's 2-1 for Canada and I told him, "Will you stop? Look, there's less than ONE minute left? Canada's gonna win, for sure!"
Well, hit me in the face with a hockey stick!!!!
At 26 seconds left, USA team scored their SECOND goal!!!!!
They were tie!!!
Elaine sent a picture of her hubby, with a written note:
"He's going wild!!!"
LOL

Well, Canada finally pulled up their socks and into OverTime, scored a THIRD goal and .... well, they won the gold medal.
Honestly, though.... the USA team, IMHO, was just as good as our Canuks.... and I felt their loss and disappointment.
But I truly do believe that they should skate with their heads held up high -
They played an EXCELLENT game!!!
Now, to borrow a paragraph from another Canadian blogger friend (QuiltMom's Journey), about the 2010 Olympics:
"All across this great country in which we live, there has been a sense of community and belonging. A not so quiet patriotism has risen up to celebrate our Canadian identity."
Her words described how I felt, too.
And YEP - Sid the Kid, or Sidney Crosby,
from Nova Scotia, scored the winning goal!!!!
How great was that, eh?!?!?!?
Well, I've rambled on, long enough...
Besides, I have yet ANOTHER
blog that I want to share with you....
including pics!
Later 'gator!
Rosa
