Hi There!
How'm I doin', you might be askin' yourself....
Well, most days, I stick with the veggies. These past 3 days .... I've been slowly sliding off the wagon.
Today's my day off.
I've got laundry goin', this morning.
This afternoon, dishes. PLUS, I'm hoping to do some cooking and meal prep. I'm back at work tomorrow, for the rest of the week.
I've noticed that when I haven't planned ahead of time and I have no food with me - GOD FORBID I SHOULD STARVE.... that's when my brain and Mr. Belly get together and they start talkin' pizzas and subs and... well, you know what I mean. :-)
Planning and prepping is the secret to getting and staying healthy, I believe.
Gotta run! Final laundry load - #4 - is ready for action!
Have a Super Sunday!

Weigh-In: Week #1
Hi There!
Progress Report - Week #1
I've basically stopped juicing. Either my cousin's (borrowed) machine is just so-so or I'm too frugal.
I could spend $100 to $300 to try and purchase the right machine for me, but will this make me happy? Not Sure. And I'll tell you why.
I'd like a machine that would give me a dry pulp. I've done a wee bit of research on juicers and read people's comments and there doesn't seem to be the perfect juicer, out there. You know? Dry pulp AND easy clean-up.
Did I mention I was frugal?
I think I'd rather eat the fiber and pulp, for now. I've convinced myself that its better for me AND I'll still loose weight while getting healthier. AND, since I'm eating ALL of the vegetable or fruit, I fill up better and cheaper than just drinking a glass of juice.
And compared to the cah-zillion calories I used to inhale in a day, the mere nano-thousands calories I'm NOW eating... well, those pounds are just rolling off. :-)
I've lost 8 nasty pounds, in 1 week!
Pretty darn good, eh? Normally, I'd have given up after 2 or 3 days.
8 pounds of butter.
An 8 pound baby.
Almost a bowling ball weight.
Almost a 10 lb bag of potatoes.
Imagine carrying around, day after day, any one of the above items?
Sooooo, this is Rosa's World, right now. Looking for a full time permanent job. I know the right one's just around the corner.... just gotta find it and convince the employer that I'm perfect for the job!
Have a Terrific Tuesday!

How Zit Goin'?
Hi There!
Well, yesterday was my first day of "Juicing".
Breakfast was DELICIOUS!!!
Lunch wasn't so good. No, I'm not blaming it on the food but rather on the juicing machine, itself.
I was supposed to have 3 heads of broccoli, 2 pears and 2 stalks of celery, right? Well, I started with the 3 heads of broccoli. While the pulp container was almost full, when finished, I might have had 1/2 cup of juice? And, the pulp was VERY wet.
Soooo, as per internet instructions, I scooped up the pulp to pass it through, once again. It jammed it! What a mess!!! Gritty broccoli stuff all over!!! And I'm thinking, "Gosh! What a waste of good broccoli!!!"
When I did the 2 pears, I only got 1 tablespoon of juice... which didn't make sense at all!
Soooo, drank my cup of juice and when I cleaned up the machine, I saw a lot of pear juice had pooled INSIDE one of the parts of the machine!
Afternoon, I ate an apple - I was STARVED!
Supper time, I eyed the machine and thought, "No, I'm too hungry and this machine isn't doing the trick for me. Let's have a salad."
Soooo, I ate a big salad and brought 3 carrots upstairs with me, to munch in front of our TV.
And peace was restored, within Rosa's soul and belly! :-)

Meet Mr. J.
This week, I watched "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead". I've been clicking and surfing on his website and I'm convinced!
I can do this!!!
Bought a whole bunch of green veggies and some fruits, this morning.
Borrowed a Juicer from my Cousin Alice, this evening, and quickly nicknamed it Mr. J.
Tomorrow morning, I'm a Juicin'!!!
My cousin, Alice, lent me her book as well. Wasn't going to borrow it but OH MY GOD, there are easy and simple recipes in this!!!
I'm a likin' it! :-)
Already have tomorrow's ingredients and menu lined up. Will try and keep you all posted on my progress!

Bucket List: Visit Briggs and Little - DONE!!!
Hi There!
When we lived in Neguac and my Grandparents were still living, we had sheep. My Grandparents would send their (raw) sheeps' wool to Briggs and Little and, in the fall, my Grandmother would receive a HUGE package with skeins and skeins of yarn. It was a happy moment for her.
Today, my Mom and I visited Briggs and Little and Heather greeted us, in the shop and was sooooo nice! My Mom and I had a few nostalgic moments. Five Stars to Briggs and Little with their "Service with a Smile" attitude and their Heather!!!
Several times, on the drive back to Saint John, I told my Mom, "Gee that Heather was nice! What a great experience!"
Anyhow, here's a picture of my Mom. She had problems with her eyes.... they'd "fill up", every now and then... as well as mine.
And, here's what I bought!
I really should explain myself. The last time that I knitted something was probably 10 years ago and it was just "scarves". I made a couple pairs of mittens and socks and one sweater, when I was .... hmmmm... 21(?). That was many, many years ago.
Anyhow, I've decided to re-try my hand at this.
Will keep you all posted!

Zelda 'n Bandit's Daily Journal - Evening Snack
Zelda 'n Bandit's Daily Journal:
Zelda here. My fur Mommy said that everyone on VisageAlbum - ooops... FaceBook - have to tell all THEIR friends about what they eat.
Well, I've asked my fur Mommy to post this picture of "moi", eating our favorite evening treat. Plain, roasted almonds! Yup! That's it. Plain, roasted almonds.
Fur Mommy gives me one and she takes one and then, I get one and she gets one. And on and on it goes till the 10 or so almonds disappear.
We be buddettes... Mommy and Me!

Zelda 'n Bandit's Daily Journal: I'm a Sensitive Guy!
Zelda 'n Bandit's Daily Journal:
Bandit here. I'm a sensitive guy. I "feel" more than Zelda. Much more.
Yesterday morning, my fur Mommy came downstairs and I had been sick in my sleep space (AKA under the kitchen table). She cleaned it up, as is her job, of course. Tee Hee.
My fur Daddy came into the kitchen and he started to gag. He told my fur Mommy that I smelled like garbage or like something rotten! Well, they couldn't put me out since it was raining and windy outside. They couldn't give me a bath in THEIR bathtub. HELLO!!! HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF ME??? And, spraying me with some kind of perfume would not be good for my health.
Did I mention this is the first time that I had such an "aroma" about me?
My fur Mommy figured it out. We had a Category 1 Hurricane come into our city and she figures that my chakras weren't quite lined up, in my body.
Sooooo, if that's the case, let's hope that our FIRST Summer Storm will be our LAST Summer Storm, for this season, anyhow!
My chakras can't take another storm.
Besides.... They may be asking me to move in their Baby Barn, next time.

Nails By Rosa
Hi There!
I've recently gotten into Gellish nail polishes or "Soak Off" polishes. I have the Gellish lamp and lots of polishes and stuff.
This afternoon, I picked up a few more colors. I decided to take a chance and see how the Gelaze brand works v.s. the Gellish brand. Both are "soak off" polishes. Gelaze is not as expensive AND the "foundation" coat is built in. BONUS!!!
From left to right, let me introduce to you my new colors:
Gelaze - White on White. The sales girl told me this is EXCELLENT for French Manicures. You don't need to do a 2nd coat, like the Gellish brand.
Gelaze - Re-Fresh Mint. The color is the EXACT same color as the outside of the bottle. I like that.
Gelaze - Exceptionally Gifted. My collection was lacking some nice summer colors. This one fits the bill, I believe.
Gelaze - Fairy Dust. This is a transparent, teeny, tiny, transparent and sparkly polish. To be used alone... if you don't want too much color or to be brushed onto other colors for a little "Fairy Dust" pick me uppper!
Gelaze - Shocking Pink. Once again, it looks... well... in your face.... the same color as the bottle but it can be used as an accent paint, or to make some fancy flowers.... whatever.
Kosmic Colors is just regular polish. It was on sale for $1.50 and I just LOVED the sparkly bronze colors. I can easily see on toes.
And finally, I bought a Gellish bottle, called "Izzy Wizzy, Let's Get Busy". It gives a transparent Mother of Pearl kind of look. I could easily use this as a base coat of paint for a French Manicure. I think it would look nice.
Soooo, this is another of my artistic venues. Right now, I'm looking for guinea pigs, to practice on. My goal is to get good enough, someday, and work from my kitchen.
Have a Terrific Thursday!

Zelda 'n Bandit's Daily Journal - Getting Royal Belly Rubs
Zelda 'n Bandit's Daily Journal:
Zelda here. Our fur Mommy left for groceries this morning, came back, put groceries away and proceeded to fill up a bag and ... well... Bandit and I figured out that she was on a mission and we were not invited.
She went on an afternoon picnic, outside, by the beach, with her friends and came back 4 hours later! It felt like FURRR-EVER!!!

She went on an afternoon picnic, outside, by the beach, with her friends and came back 4 hours later! It felt like FURRR-EVER!!!
We got our revenge by giving her the Sniff Test, many times over!
Afterwards, I went to see my fur Daddy, laid on my back and asked for my Royal Belly Rub. Daddy took a picture 'cause he thought I was cute.
Daddy's my new friend! At least, until its time to play or eat and at which point, I will have forgotten that Mommy abandoned us.
Tomorrow's another day....

Backups are IMPORTANT!!!
Hi There!
I just read a post, this morning, where someone lost their cell phone and they're now desperate. Cell phone was stolen and they're now begging for their memory card from their phone, to be returned, 'cause they've lost precious pictures of their newborn child.
PLEASE PEOPLE - SAVE YOUR CELL PHONE PICTURES ONTO YOUR COMPUTER!!! Put them on SkyDrive, The Cloud, DropBox, on your computer.... ANYWHERE!!!
Before its too late.

Zelda 'n Bandit's Daily Journal - Bandit Asks About Going to the Beach
Hi there!
I have 2 dogs. Zelda is a neurotic German Shepherd and we adopted Bandit, a mostly Black Lab mix, from my parents. My parents were moving in, from a country farm house into an appartment, in the city.
Anyhow, from time to time, I write about them on Face Book. Thought I'd share their posts with you, on here, too.
***********************************************
Zelda 'n Bandit's Daily Journal:
Bandit here: Okay, I need some advice. My human Mommy and Daddy aren't sure, so they've asked me to ask you humans.
My Medical Info:
Senior: I'll be 10 in 2 months. That's 70 in human years for those of you that can't do the math. I'm a wee bit overweight... still. My ex-human Mommy said I had arthritis. My new human Mommy says that was just Fat-Assitis. I've slimmed down since I've moved in here and can now jump! Okay, with just my 2 front paws and only for food, but HEY... I can "jump".
The Scenario: We went to the beach yesterday and HEY! When I was tired, I stopped and rested. I'm no dumb bunny!
That stupid Zelda and her new puppy friend ran and ran and ran. But when my human Mommy threw a rock, guess who was the fastest at getting it, eh?!?!? YOURS TRULY!!!!
The Problem: This morning, I was all "stiff". My human Mommy had to invite me.... MANY TIMES... to go out and do my thing. Me, I just wanted to lay down on my comfy bed. I'm outta shape. That's all.
The Question: Would it be better if I stayed home while that bitch Zelda gets to play? I mean, I love the beach as much as anyone and their dog, right?
Or, should my human Mommy continue taking me to the beach, in hopes that my muscles will get better and better... with time?
Any and all replies will be read and translated into doggy woofs, so that Zelda and I can understand.
And, because you've been so patient at reading my post, I'm including one of my pictures.
Please disregard my white beard. I'm younger at heart than you think!
Thanks!

Teaching a Quilting Class
Hi There!
For months, I've been tossing around this topic in my brain and this evening, I decided to write it down and present it to you...
What do you think? Nothing is really written in stone and these are simply suggestions... to make life easier for a quilting teacher. *s*
Here goes:
For months, I've been tossing around this topic in my brain and this evening, I decided to write it down and present it to you...
What do you think? Nothing is really written in stone and these are simply suggestions... to make life easier for a quilting teacher. *s*
Here goes:
If you would like to teach a class, there are typically 4
or 5 documents you need to prepare.
1 – Present your “Basic Class Info” to the person(s) in
charge of “Classes”.
2 – Information sheet to pass out to Guild Members or to
read in front of Guild Members. This is
like an “Advertisement”. You’re trying
to encourage members to sign up for your class.
3 – List of class requirements, for those members that
signed up. Note: You may invite them to
bring their camera as you’re giving them permission to take pictures of your
quilt samples. Or you may state, “No
pictures allowed.” You may also ask
members to bring along a notebook and pen or pencil to take notes or you may
supply their “notes” - See Item #5.
4 - Your crib notes or your teaching schedule. These are
your personal notes that you will need, as you teach. You don’t want to read
ALL of your notes verbatim. Just crib
notes are fine – you can elaborate from there.
5 – Notes, drawings, sketches, block(s) or Quilt pattern.
These will be given to the class attendees.
At this point, you may or may not give them permission to take pictures
of your quilt samples or whatever you have brought along.

Trying to Play "Catch-Up"....
Hi There!
Some of you might have noticed that I try to list all my finished quilts, on here.
See the list on the right hand side?
You'll have to scroll up and/or down to find it.
Anyhow, I still have my DEAR JANE quilt,
from 2010, to list on my permanent web site.
These past few evenings, I've been working on quilts from 2011
I've been adding them on my permanent (Done) web site -
Pictures and descriptions are added there, too.
http://les3a.no-ip.com/rosa/done/main.htm
Sooooo, if you're so inclined, hop on over to that page.
I've got all my quilts listed, according to year.
There's quite a few of them .... try not to get lost.
*grin*
