Last Saturday's Errands

Last Saturday, FOR ONCE, I had an enjoyable outing!

Why, you ask? Well, because I found out about the block of the month, at our local quilt store,
"Town and Country Quilts".

Here's a picture of me, ALL HAPPY, to go into this wonderful store! *grin*

I couldn't help but take a picture of what they have painted, near the ceiling:

Okay, here's the deal, with the "Block of the Month". You pay $10.00 to sign up and you get your 1st block pattern AND fabric. The last Saturday of the month, you bring your FINISHED block and you get a 2nd pattern AND fabric - FREE!!! And this goes on, for 12 months... how great is that, eh?!??! Only 10 bucks for 12 blocks! *VBG*

Anyhow, that Thursday, I was telling Gilbert about this "Block of the Month", that I wanted to join. Here's our conversation, as best as I can remember:

Gilbert: So you just go and pick up a block, every month, for 10 dollars?
Me: No, dear... you only pay ONCE. (by now, I'm grinning from ear to ear)
Gilbert: And they give you the fabric, too?
Me: Yup!
Gilbert: Well, how many of those blocks do you have to make?
Me: Huh?
Gilbert: Yah, how many will you be swapping?
Me: No, I'm not swapping these blocks. They're mine.
Gilbert: No, seriously.... who and how will you be exchanging these blocks, with?

By then, I was peering into his eyes, to see if he was serious. It was then, that I realized that I MUST be swapping too much... I think he's figured that ALL quilt blocks MUST be swapped! LOL

Well, after a rather long explanation, he finally understand... and HEY! he agreed with me that it was an excellent deal! *VBG*

AND, once he saw the pattern, he said, "THAT'S a BIG block! You'll have that one done, today!"

*VBG*

Well, it IS a 12 inch block and YES, I got it done in 1 hour.... and that was with quite a few (family) interruptions. *grin*

The block's a bit crooked, on my design wall, when I took the picture.

After our visit to the quilt store, we picked up a few groceries. Then, Gilbert offered to pay for lunch - that's our noon meal. Just outside the restaurant, there were a bunch of pumpkins and I took a picture of this funky looking one - it looked like it had "warts" on it! LOL

That evening, I sat down and started to work on my tole paintings.

Need to get these done, for Christmas!

*grin*

Anyhow, then, the next day (Sunday), I decided to re-do my hair.

What cha think, eh? LOL

Another "red" job!

That's it... till my next blog!

Hey Rosa:

Those block of the month programs are really cool eh? Love your block...it's very pretty! Do you pay $10 if you don't have your block finished next time? that's the way it worked at the shop where I used to work...if you were not on time or didn't have your block done, you paid $10.00 again :-). Some people ended up paying $10 almost every month LOL. Expensive set of blocks then!!
