Hooking News!!!

Hi There!

Gilbert and I went to Calais, Maine (USA), today
and as usual, we had an EXCELLENT time!

One of the places that I LOVE to go to, is Mardens! They have an INCREDIBLE amount of INCREDIBLE fabric... all at INCREDIBLE prices!!!

These wanna-be Moda Jelly Rolls were only $9.99 EACH!!!!

Here's a picture of my 2nd and latest hooking project.
I'm calling them "Funky Chickens".

Remember "My Process Pledge"?

Well, I'm thinking of NOT doing the background.... sorta let it look like an actual barn "yard", right? I'll probably add a few cross stitched spots, here and there... or do them in French Knots... but these yellow or mustard spots here and there, would be the chickens' feed, okay?

Gilbert's already told me that he'd mount this on some kind of board and he'd make a minor or shallow shadow box, okay? (you still following me, here?)

And here's where the REAL weird part occurs. I thought I'd have some chicken coop wire cover the FRONT part of my hooked project.

Kinda make this a bit humourous....

We'll have to wait and see how it turns out. Besides, I'll need to buy some chicken coop wire, right? *s*

Okay... back to our trip.....

Coming back INTO Canada, we stopped at the "Wool Emporium", in St. Stephen. She had some lovely wool swatches, which I grabbed!!!

And the cutest "Tweezers", too!

NOTE TO KAREN:
I hope you don't mind, but I sorta copied your wooden box idea.

Actually, I was telling Gilbert that YOU had a lovely, hand painted box, to store all YOUR rug hooking equipment and he pipes up and says, "Oh, wait a sec! I have an empty wooden box that you can have!"

Well, was I going to refuse?!??!?

LOL

NOTE TO THE OTHERS:
In my box, I'll be putting my new (bent) scissors, my rug hook and hmmmm... perhaps a new metal tool, to help tighten bolts??!?!?

Gilbert spotted the one and ONLY wool cutter, on their shelves, at a much reduced price!!!!

Okay, so it's not like Karen's - she owns a "Bliss", but it cuts just as good!

If you look in the previous picture, you'll see that I practiced a cut a few strips or "worms", as they're called!

Well, anyhow... I'm off to bed!

We're supposed to get "Earl", during the night and all day tomorrow.

Earl's either a Category 1 or 2, depending on which radio station you're listening to.... Either way, Earl's supposed to be quite nasty.

We'll be battening down the hatches and hunkerin' in, all day tomorrow... that's for sure!

And afterwards,
we'll be able to sing the Dixie Chick's song....

"Goodbye Earl"!!!
